Privacy Policy

Short version: Hush measures sound on your device and keeps the results there. It never records audio, and it never uploads your measurements.

1. Who we are

Hush is provided by Ask White. For anything in this policy, use the support form.

2. The microphone

Hush asks for microphone access because it cannot measure sound without it. The incoming audio is analysed on your device, in memory, to compute a level in decibels.

Audio is never recorded, never written to storage and never sent anywhere. Nothing that could be listened to leaves your device — or is even created in the first place.

3. What is stored, and where

• Measurements you save (date, duration, minimum / maximum / average level, the level-over-time series, and any place label or note you type) are stored locally on your device.
• Your settings (weighting, response, calibration offset and similar) are stored locally on your device.
• None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. Deleting the App deletes it.
• Hush has no account system. We do not know who you are.

4. Advertising (free version only)

The free version shows banner advertising supplied by Google AdMob. To serve those ads, Google's software in the App may process technical information such as your device type, coarse location derived from your IP address, and identifiers used to limit how often an ad is shown and to detect invalid traffic.

• Hush does not ask for tracking permission and does not request personalised ads. Ad requests are sent as non-personalised. No Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) is requested by the App.
• If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent dialogue provided by Google's User Messaging Platform is shown before ads are requested. You can change your choice at any time in the App under Settings → "Ad privacy settings".
• Google's handling of this data is described in its own privacy notice.
• Subscribers see no advertising, and the advertising software is not started at all for them.

5. Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. Apple tells the App whether a valid subscription exists; it does not give us your name, your payment details or your Apple Account. We keep no purchase records of our own.

6. Analytics and crash reporting

Hush includes no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. If you have opted in to share analytics with Apple, Apple may provide us with aggregate, anonymised statistics about installs and crashes through App Store Connect. That data does not identify you.

7. The support form on this website

When you send a message through the support form, the content of your message, and the email address if you choose to give one, are emailed to us so that we can answer. They are not published, not used for marketing, and not stored in a database on this website. We keep the correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

8. Children

Hush is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your rights

Because measurements stay on your device, you control them directly: delete a measurement in the App, or delete the App to remove everything. If you have written to us and want that correspondence deleted, ask through the support form. Depending on where you live you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection under laws such as the GDPR; we will honour valid requests.

10. International transfers

We operate from Japan. Email you send us through the form is received on servers located in Japan. Advertising data, where it applies, is processed by Google under its own terms and may be transferred internationally.

If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new "last updated" date.
